Hi, my name is Carolyn. I am a creative business person. I can be your CFO, Management Consultant, or your Operational Partner, when you need me.
MY WORK EXPERIENCE
I began my career at Price Waterhouse (pre PWC) as a staff auditor. After working on an advertising agency engagement, I realized that I had a strong interest in the industry. I moved next to Young & Rubicam, as an Internal Auditor. While there, I was able to feed my desire to travel, while also learning more about the advertising industry from the inside. My next role as Business Affairs Manager for the Direct Marketing group at Ammirati & Puris (a mid-sized NY agency which was acquired by holding company IPG during my tenure), catapulted my career. Within five years (thanks to some wonderful mentors), I created and defined two other roles, ultimately being promoted to SVP, Associate Director of Finance. I was responsible for all aspects of the client/agency business, including client fee proposals and agreements, client revenue and profitability, staffing models and employee utilization. I worked with some of the largest companies in the world.
After a brief stint as a consultant and mom to young kids, I joined DDB Worldwide Communications (a division of Omnicom, the largest advertising agency holding company), where I served as CFO for DDB subsidiaries and new acquisitions. I was responsible for all aspects of the agencies’ operations and financial health, while working directly with DDB’s Worldwide CFO and each agency’s CEO.
In mid-2005, I left the structured corporate world to establish a consulting practice. Initial projects included assignments for DDB, and later for other Omnicom companies such as OMD, Singer Direct, Interbrand, Marina Maher Communications and Tribal Worldwide. I also have provided counsel and CFO services to independent agencies and start-ups on an ongoing basis. I have worked on specific projects pertaining to payroll, earn-out agreements, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, new system design, and media, as well as acted as Interim CFO or Controller for agencies that were in-between staff. Each new assignment is exciting and challenging, and I love sharing my expertise with other people.
MY EDUCATION
I graduated magna cum laude from the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis with a B.S in Business Administration and Accounting, while also passing my CPA exam prior to graduation.
PERSONAL NOTE
I grew up in NY and lived there most of my life. We recently moved to Park City, Utah to enjoy the outdoors lifestyle. I enjoy hiking with my dogs, skiing and traveling. In addition, I perform admissions interviews and mentor business school students at Washington University throughout the school year, and I am on the Finance Committee for a local non-profit.
